The Social Season is in full swing!
This weekend saw one of the most significant social events to hit the Ton! My dearest sister Ambreen officially reached the prominent age of four and zero. That’s 40 to you and I! In true Bridgerton fashion, my family and I felt positively obliged to host the most extraordinary Afternoon spread in honour of this milestone and special occasion.
This had to be one of the most exuberant parties we’ve ever thrown, and I must say, we have hosted a fair few. There was something about this theme that allowed us to exercise all our suppressed whimsy and delight! Take a look below!

Invitations
There’s nothing like a beautifully designed elegant invite to whip your guests into a flurry. We opted for a border of lilac Wisteria and sophisticated mixed fonts to really create an opulent feel. Of course one could not miss a chance to add a nod to Lady Whistledown and her Society Papers to really stay on theme.
Décor
To achieve a regal look we used lace doilies, candlesticks, and Lavender-coloured tablecloths – all purchased from Shein! Quintessential disposable teacups and saucers purchased from Amazon also added a touch of whimsy. For a real Bridgerton inspired look, use floral arrangements of lavender and Wisteria in small vases or teacups to serve as elegant centerpieces.
Afternoon tea
To create a wonderful tea party, you don’t need to splurge on expensive loose-leaf tea. A variety of tea flavours ranging from the quintessential Earl Grey or English Breakfast to a more desi twist with Pink Tea or Karak Chai (Representing Miss Sharma!) For more options, add a herbal teas like Mint or Green Tea.
An assortment of shop bought cakes provides an elegant Tea Party without breaking the bank. Fondant fancies, Mini Cupcakes and decadent scones make for delicious sweet bites! And for savories, prepare your own finger sandwiches and pastries.
Playlist & Ambience
Create a Bridgerton-inspired playlist featuring classical and string music. Streaming services often have ready-made playlists for such occasions. Instrumentals like Taylor Swift’s ‘Wildest Dreams’ and Harry Styles ‘Sign of the Times’ create the perfect Bridgerton atmosphere fit for a ball! This musical backdrop will add to the ambiance without costing a fortune.
Dress Code
Encourage guests to embrace the era’s style by donning regal attire. Empire waistlines, ribbons and lace gloves are all reminiscent of the Regency look. Thrift stores and vintage shops are excellent sources for affordable costumes and accessories. Encourage creativity, as homemade outfits and DIY accessories can be both budget-friendly and unique. Have fun with the theme and lean into it fully!
Budget-Friendly Favors
Send your guests home with small and affordable party favors, such as handmade scented sachets, bookmarks, or miniature tea tins. You can find these items online or at local craft stores without spending a fortune.
